Benefits

MEDICAL BENEFITS: 

Eligible Active Members

  • Plan provides benefits through Healthlink.  Healthlink Open Access III is the name of the plan for active members and their dependents.  There are 3 levels of benefits: HMO, PPO, and Out of Network.  No referrals are required and benefits are based on the network (HMO, PPO, OON) affiliation of each provider.

Eligible Retired Members not on Medicare:

  • Basically the same as the Plan for Active members.

Eligible Retired members with Medicare:

  • Plan provides a supplement to Medicare Part A and B.  If a retiree is eligible for Medicare, they are required to take both A and B. Plan follows Medicare coverage guidelines.

PRESCRIPTION BENEFITS:

informedRx is the Pharmacy Benefit Manager used by the Plan.  They manage both the retail and mail order components of the Plan.  Both eligible Active and eligible Retired members are covered under the Prescription Plan.

DENTAL BENEFITS:

Both Eligible Active and eligible Retired members and their dependents are covered under the Dental Plan through Delta Dental of Missouri.  The Plan has a yearly maximum and covers routine and restorative services.

VISION BENEFITS:

Both eligible Active and eligible Retired members and their dependent are covered under Vision Service Plan (VSP) vision plan for routine services and supplies (exam, lenses, frames).

TEMPORARY DISABILITY BENEFITS:

There is a temporary disability benefit for non work related illness or injury available for eligible active members only.  It is a weekly benefit for a maximum period of 30 weeks.

DEATH BENEFITS:

Eligible Active members and their eligible dependents have a death benefit available as part of the benefit package.  Eligible Retirees and their dependents also have a death benefit available.

All benefits provided by Plumbers’ and Pipefitters’ Welfare Fund are self funded.  The medical claims are processed in the Fund office, the dental and vision benefits are administered by Delta Dental of Missouri and Vision Service Plan.  Pharmacy is managed by informedRx for both retail and mailorder services. Death benefits are issued by the Fund office.  All benefits are employer funded.

PENSION:

Another great benefit of Local Union #562 membership is the Local Pension Fund.  This is a Defined Benefit Plan with a five year vesting period.

This fund is managed and invested by a Board of Trustees consisting of an equal number of Labor and Management Trustees.  With the help and advisement of skilled financial consultants, this Fund has grown over the years, producing exceptional returns for participants and their families.

SUPPLEMENTAL PENSION:

Local Union #562 also has a Supplemental Pension for eligible particpants.  This is a Defined Contribution Plan which vests you from the first hour of covered employment you work.

This fund is managed and invested by the Board of Trustees consisting of an equal number of Labor and Management Trustees.  With the help and advisement of skilled financial consultants, this Fund has grown over the years, producing exceptional returns for participants and their families.
